Gabriele Fliegel was born in Pinneberg near Hamburg and grew up in the family business of a specialist tree nursery. She is an ecotrophologist (nutritionist). In this capacity, she worked for several years in the marketing department of an American food company.
In order to realize her joy and talent for working with young people, she studied English language and literature and art/visual communication for teaching at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. She passed both exams very successfully and subsequently taught pupils from 14 nations at a secondary school in Spandau for 36 years with great commitment.
As a lecturer at the HdK Berlin, she also accompanied a large number of students during their teacher training.
Gabriele Fliegel’s focus was on cooperation with artists who paint and make music, as well as cooperation with companies and businesses in Spandau. She also developed and realized class trip projects in England, Russia and Schleswig Holstein.
The success of this comprehensive commitment was that almost all of her pupils were offered an apprenticeship. As a result, Gabriele Fliegel came to the attention of the business community, which appointed her as head of the Wirtschaftshof Spandau association in 2003. Wirtschaftshof Spandau is a business association that was founded in 1949 and now has over 300 members.
