Karl Pilny, a reknown Asia and Investment expert, is Managing Partner of asia21, a Zurich-based advisory practice he founded. By background a business lawyer, he is still Of-Counsel with the Berlin office of an international law firm.
For twenty years he has advised multinational clients on investment in Asia as well as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Indian companies on M&A deals in Europe. He was formerly Managing Partner of Travers Smith and Coudert Brothers in Germany (Berlin) and lived in London, Brussels and Tokyo. As a Japanese speaker he was a Professor of German Law at the universities of Kyoto and Osaka and a Research Fellow with the Max Planck Institute for International Intellectual Property Law. Karl Pilny is one of the most eminent Asia experts, author of numerous books like the trilogy “The Asian Century” and a highly demanded Keynote Speaker on Asian questions.
Currently, he holds a professorship for International Technology Transfer Management at the bbw University of Applied Sciences in Berlin and is chairman of the supervisory board of the International Academy for Social Sciences, Organization and Management – World Citizen Campus (CCW).
